Hedgehogs can eat much of the food we humans eat, but there are some limitations we need to be aware of before sharing our food with them. Some human foods may be harming, hurting, and even in some cases, even lethal for hedgehogs to eat.

Since applesauce has a pretty low pH, it is classified as acidic. Acidic foods aren’t good for hedgehogs and may cause stomach problems. If you want to treat your hedgehog, make sure to give in moderation. The calories in applesauce are quite high, and hedgehogs can easily become obese. If you encounter a dehydrated hedgehog, you will need to contact a veterinarian. The fat in bacon is not good for hedgehogs since it has a lot of oil and calories. Hedgehogs easily become obese. Can hedgehogs eat beef jerky?

Can hedgehogs eat cheese?
Hedgehogs shouldn’t eat cheese. Cheese is made from milk which contains lactose. Hedgehogs are lactose intolerant and will be harmed if they eat it. However, cheese contains a lot of Calcium which is beneficial for hedgehogs. There are, however, other sources of Calcium which is better for hedgehogs.

Can hedgehogs eat chips?

- The salt in chips is also bad for hedgehogs since it causes dehydration. Even if you serve unsalted chips, it still contains two other bad things for hedgehogs.
- Chips are also often coated with a lot of seasoning. Seasoning may provide a delicious taste for us humans, but for the hedgie, it causes harm. The seasoning usually is spices and salt—both leading to dehydration.
Can hedgehogs eat chocolate?
Hedgehogs can’t eat chocolate. Often hedgehogs don’t even bother tasting it. Chocolate is made of milk, sugar, and cacao. Hedgehogs shouldn’t consume milk since they are lactose intolerant. Consuming it would hurt their stomachs. The high sugar content in chocolate is also bad for hedgehogs. Hedgehogs easily develop obesity, and we should do whatever we can to help them to avoid it. However, they would need some extra calories before hibernating in the fall. You can provide them with some seeds and nuts, which are high in healthy fats.
Can hedgehogs eat cinnamon?
